–Interesting–

Originally named “plumbum spatosum flavo-rubrum, ex Annaberg, Austria” in 1772. It was later renamed after Jesuit botanist, alpinist, and mineralogist Franz Xavier von Wulfen in 1845.

It typically has a transparent or translucent, honey-yellow, orange, or red appearance, which is thought to be caused by the presence of extrinsic impurities.

Laboratories have synthesized wulfenite through pulled and flux methods for industrial applications and have even produced faceted specimens.
